THE HAIGHT

SF Map: E, 10-11

The history of the Haight is as colorful as the Victorian architecture that lines the streets of this neighborhood. The Haight Ashbury community is universally recognized for its creativity and diversity expressed by the hybrid mixture of shops, residents, and its landmark place in history. The style and ingenuity that started in the sixties still rings true in the nineties.
There is a myriad of eclectic shops, restaurants and cafes that reflect the individuality of the proprietors and the

community. The San Francisco sound can still be heard from the many popular nightclubs. The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane and Janis Joplin were one-time residents of the Haight.
