PRESIDIO

SF Map: C-E, 1-4

The Presidio served as a military station for more than 200 years. Union regiments trained here during the Civil war. In 1994 the Presidio became part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Approximately 1,600 acres of parks and beaches are located in this northwest corner of the City.

The Army Museum at Funston and Lincoln avenues relates San Francisco's military history with exhibits of weapons, uniforms and other army memorabilia.
